TOMMASI, GERMANO, CA’ DEL BOSCO, CAPRAI, CALCAGNO, NALS MARGREID, CAMIGLIANO AND PETRA ARE THE WINNERS OF THE ITALIAN SOMMELIER FOUNDATION’S “OSCAR DEL VINO” 2018. SPECIAL PRIZES TO MASSETO, SASSICAIA, BIONDI SANTI AND CASTELLO DELLA SALA (ANTINORI)

The nineteenth edition of the “Oscars of Wine”, by the Italian Sommelier Foundation led by Franco Ricci, one of the most glamorous events on the Italian wine scene, recently held during the “Serata delle Stelle” in Rome, awarded the wines and wineries of small and large companies from South Tyrol to Sicily, which are points of reference in their territories. The Oscar for best red wine goes to Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Ca’ Florian Riserva 2010 by Tommasi,B the best white wine to Langhe Riesling Hérzu 2014 by Ettore Germano, while for the sparkling wine “the Oscar goes to” Franciacorta Dosage Zéro Noir Vintage Collection 2007 by Ca ’del Bosco. The Oscar for the best wine of the best producer to Sagrantino di Montefalco 25 years 2013 by Caprai, the one for the best rosé wine to Etna Rosato Arcuria 2016 of Calcagno, the one for the best sweet wine Alto Adige Moscato Giallo Passito Baronesse Baron Salvadori 2014 by Nals Margreid, while the best emerging wine is Brunello di Montalcino Unexpected Landscape 2012 of Camigliano, and the one for best value / price ratio Vermentino Toscana Belvento 2016 by Petra of the Terra Moretti group.

For the first time, the Oscars were awarded “live”, together with a “9-times” tasting of the individual wines “nominated” presented by each speaker, and voted through a telematics system that counted the tasters’ votes in real time. Four icon-labels of Italian wine, also received the special awards from the jury stage of the Rome Cavalieri Waldorf Astoria, wines that over the years have held high their prestige in the world like few others: Cervaro della Sala 2011 of Castello della Sala di Antinori, Masseto 2014 of Masseto, Bolgheri Sassicaia 2014 of Tenuta San Guido and Brunello di Montalcino 2011 of Tenuta Greppo di Biondi Santi.
As always, the Italian Sommelier Foundation and Bibenda also awarded the best winemaker, who this year is Umberto Trombelli, the best journalist, Lucia Buffo (RAI), and the best wine marketing manager Matteo Carreri (Carreri).
