VINEXPO 2017 IS NOW OVER, SO WHILE WE ARE WAITING TO FIND OUT THE DATES OF THE NEXT EDITION OF THE BORDEAUX WINE SHOW, HERE ARE WINENEWS’ BEST TASTINGS IN THE GLASS, VINTAGE 2016 "EN PRIMEUR" OF THE PRESTIGIOUS CHÂTEAUX DE L'UNION DES GRANDS CRUS

Vinexpo 2017 is now over, so while waiting to find out the dates of the next edition of the Bordeaux wine show here are Winenews’ best tastings in the glass, vintage 2016 "en primeur" of the prestigious Bordeaux Châteaux de l'Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux.

It was an excellent vintage, as already confirmed during the traditional Semaine des Primeurs in April (and of course, by prices as for all great vintages, ed.), thanks to the favorable climate, which permitted an optimal maturation of the virtually homogeneous grapes between Domains and Appellations, from Margaux to Saint-Julien.
The wines are classic but not austere, fragrant but not overly robust on the palate - Domaine de Chevalier 2016, well balanced, Château Malartic Lagravière 2016, soft tannins and the same for the very fragrant Gruaud Larose 2016. Château Lagrange, bright and expressive on the palate and Château Giscours, a great evolution in the glass. Château Dauzac 2016, linear and fragrant, on the same level as Troplong Mondot 2016. Châteaux Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande 2016 and Léoville Barton 2016 have intense taste.
Château Lynch Bages 2016, creamy and fresh at the finish, Château Talbot 2016, well balanced and also fresh. Château Léoville Poyferré 2016 is elegant and has beautiful structure.
