GREAT BRITAIN ABSORBS 43% OF PROSECCO DOC EXPORTS, AND IN THE LAST 12 MONTHS HAS UNCORKED MORE BOTTLES THAN ITALY. IN 2016 DEMAND HAS GROWN 38.6% OVER 2015. US AND FRENCH MARKETS ALSO DID WELL

It’s no news that Prosecco DOC in Great Britain can count on millions of loyal fans that have absorbed, literally, 43% of exports and not only; they have also outdone Italy in the last 12 months, as British wine lovers have bought more bottles than the Italians, stated the Consortium of Prosecco DOC, which has estimated total production in 2016 at 415 million bottles and forecasted 460 million bottles in 2017.

The demand for exports in the UK grew 38.6% compared to 2015, and the price increase per bottle was 11.3%. Exports to the US grew 31.7%, and 70.3% to France, where the average price rose 13%. There are more than 13.000 companies, averaging less than two hectares in size, within the Doc territory between Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia.
