JANCIS ROBINSON, ONE OF THE MOST PRESTIGIOUS WINE WRITERS IN THE WORLD ONCE MORE ADVISES ITALIANS: “FORGET THE FRENCH!” WHICH SHE HAD ALREADY SAID IN AN INTERVIEW WITH WINENEWS, “ITALY SHOULD BE PROUD OF WHAT IT HAS”

“Italians, forget the French”, is the advice from Jancis Robinson, one of the most prestigious names in the wine world. She seized the opportunity offered to her by the Italian and French Prime Ministers about which country has the best wine, and reiterated a concept on her blog (www.jancisrobinson.com) and on the pages of the "Financial Times" that escapes the Italian wine world, “Italian wine producers biggest problem”, wrote Robinson, “is that they are continually comparing themselves with the French. And that's a mistake, because today they have a lot to be proud of and can stand on there own two feet”.
She had already expressed the same thought in an interview with WineNews (http://goo.gl/dNpemP) during Wine2Wine in Verona in December: “Italians are obsessed with France, and Italy instead should forget France because it has cards to play that France does not. Just like in other sectors as well, French wine and cuisine are going through a phase of lack of confidence, so forget France, be proud of what you have”.
In other words, several months have gone by but the bottom line is still the same - the Italian wine world has to stop comparing itself with its French neighbors, which will only curb growth, and learn to rely on its own strengths.
