WHEN DEMAND MEETS OFFER. THE US AUCTION HOUSE ACKER MERRALL & CONDIT HAS ANNOUNCED A PARTNERSHIP OFFERING APPRAISAL SERVICES OF COLLECTION AND INDIVIDUAL BOTTLES TO USERS OF THE WINE REVIEW WEBSITE, TASTINGBOOK.COM

You never know what gems might be hidden in the nooks and crannies of a small family collection, or what that small selection wine enthusiasts have built patiently over time might exactly be worth. It is a query that often makes a difference to the kick-off for a high level sale, which is why the US auction house Acker Merrall & Condit, a leading name in the global industry and the oldest US wine merchant, has decided to establish a partnership with "Tastingbook" (www.tastingbook.com), the wine review site launched in 2015 by the Finnish wine writer Pekka Nuikki - also creator of the magazine "FINE the Wine magazine".
The reasoning behind the decision is clear. As "The Drinks Business" (www.thedrinksbusiness.com) has reported, Tastingbook.com declares itself a leading source of information on global world wines, and boasts a considerable monthly audience of 1.5 million users from 76 different countries. Registration is free and users can then access the database of wine reviews, pairings and services on the site, reviews written by a legion of 6.000 experts and who have reached the monster figure of 400.000 tasting notes.
That kind of audience, naturally, might very well be interested in the opportunity of having the auction house’s team of experts appraise his collection, or wine gem from his own small collection, without having to move from home. And, if the appraisal is gratifying, maybe Acker Merrall & Condit could secure a customer without having to physically "move" any of its human resources.
“When Pekka and I began to discuss the need for an online appraisal service for its website users at the end of 2016, I said yes, let’s do it together”, said the president of Acker Merrall & Condit John Kapon, and it is not hard to see why, given the numbers and the global reach of Nuikki’s creation...
